Journalism-2

Journalism is the part of social activity that is concerned with the dissemination of news and views about society.

Journalism in today's world has become a medium of mass education that provides supplementary education to people of any age group. Everything related to mass media is not journalism but an activity that involves writing, preparation, and production of a message or information that can be considered journalism. Mass media holds the capacity to reach millions within seconds through a medium such as TV, radio, newspapers, online portals, etc. Computer technology has made it a lot easier to get informed due to which people along with working can get adequate information in the fields that they are interested in.

Journalism reflects the philosophy and achievements of society in all spheres . Literacy is a basic need of a developing country and it is needed for a  nation to take part in wide participation in nation-building activities. Journalism is crossing the barriers of the way of teaching where they are educating millions through an audio and visual medium.

Journalism means to convey news and views on various aspects of human activities also in a broader sense it conveys various national policies to the public and keeps the Government informed about the needs of the public. In simple words, journalism keeps the public connected to the Government and vice versa. Also, it keeps its readers or viewers entertained by publishing news about movies, short stories, celebrity gossip, etc.

One who is a journalist should have penmanship skills through which he can create an interesting story out of political happenings and bind the reader within it.

Journalism throughout the years has widened it in terms of reporting the economic and political scene of a country or a place. It has become more than that . Journalism brings out the voices of the unheard, helps to provide justice to the victims, and even deals with international issues. You may have seen many journalists rescuing women from gulf countries, mainly those who were sold there as slaves or in brothel houses. Journalism not only covers the lavish life of powerful individuals but also covers the struggle of a man living in slums.

A journalist has the same value as a teacher if he uses his power for any selfish or unworthy purpose and will never be a trustworthy figure to  the public.Freedom of the press should be guarded as a vital right and its freedom of press does not imply   publication and presentation of any personal issue or private issue. There are certain canons of journalism that they apply to every journalist which are sincerity, truthfulness, fairplay, decent etc.As there is no authority to regulate journalism, journalists are meant to influence the public in the right direction.

A good number of journalists follow journalism ethics but some of them distort the story in their own way which will influence the audience in a wrong way. Most journalists try to point out the cunning nature of politicians but often forget their own ethics thinking it as a reasonable thing to do in some events or cases.

The role of journalism in modern society cannot be overstated. It is the backbone of a free and open society, providing the public with the information they need to make informed decisions about the world around them. Whether it is covering breaking news, exposing corruption and wrongdoing, or simply providing a platform for discussion and debate, journalism has a vital role to play in shaping the public’s perception of the world.
