If you are a listener of rap there is a high possibility that you’ve heard about Nep-hop or Nepali Rap Industry. Girish Khatiwada brought rap culture here with the first ever Nepali Rap song Ma yesto chu in the late 90s.The wave of rap then spread like a wildfire in Nepal. Nepdayz, B-eight, COD grabbed the attention of the new generation and made a quite good rap-fanbase in Nepal. But the industry went mainstream when Anil Adhikari known by his stage name Yama Budhha started to conduct a rap-battle program named RawBarz in the year 2011.
So many talented newcomers took part in the rap battle but among them, one of the rappers stood out the most.He was Sacar Adhikari, known by his stage name Sacar. The flow with which he used to deliver in both English and Nepali was crazy; he was undoubtedly the best to stand there.
Actually, most people were unable to understand what he said there due to his fast flow and the native accent which was a very very big deal at that time. This was the main reason he remained underrated at that time. Anybody who knew the rap culture would have surely noticed all the references he used to insert in his rap. He had a great career ahead but destiny had determined other things for him.
He went to Australia for his higher studies while still giving continuity to his music career as well. But things went downhill for Sacar when Yama Buddha died. This incident had a great effect on Sacarl. He started to upload videos cursing Nepali Politicians, beefing with every rapper calling out their names. He even made a diss track calling out all the rappers who were active in Nep-hop during that time. The rappers were Laure, Balen, Uniq Poet, Mc Flo, and many more.
His slang “Katta Khalas” was popular all over Nepal. The little skinny dude who was Sacar before Yama’s death became Lil Buddha. The skinny dude went rogue and everybody then started hating him, for a certain period. The famous video which became a meme sensation at a time you may remember the video dialogue” ta kiure ko biu hos” was dedicated to Sacar which was from guys who were offended by his statements they were giving him death threats. He even had beef with Laure which was the highlight of his biggest controversies.
Laure at that time was at the pinnacle of success as his song Mero Solta was popular at the time. So the crowd turned against Sacar and showered him with curses, and death threats. Sacar instead of getting popularity from his actual talent started to get fame from all the controversies he had.
Talking about his musical career Sacar is one of the talented rappers with awesome penmanship. One of his rap songs which he mixed with the legendary song 'Kehi Mitho Baata Gara's verse "Dhoka banda swarga ko Hasna sikchhu narka ma Mero geet ko artha k Daara Lagdo Bartaman'' explains his penmanship.
Seeing Sacar’s recent comeback and new controversies he is more upgraded as an artist but degraded as a human being. I believe Sacar and Kanye are no different in terms of controversies if you separate artists from art. Both of them are incredible artists but as a human, they are unbelievably wrong. Another rapper named Ease is Easy made allegations against Sacar in his two disses against Sacar named Sacar Padhikari 1 and 2 regarding Sacar degrading the image of Late Anil Adhikari aka Yama Buddha and calling him a wack rapper frequently.
Sacar released a new album a few months back where a song named No Peace in Love did well and his fans were happy seeing his comeback. But he has again ghosted his fans and is no longer active on his social media handles. Hope he gets better soon and brings songs that will show his true worth as an artist.
